BISHOP RUFUS AND
LADY TRENA TURNER

EMERITUS PASTORS

Bishop Rufus K. Turner, M.Div., and Lady Trena Turner are the founders and longtime spiritual leaders of Victory In Praise Church (VIP), which they planted in Stockton, California in 1995 after relocating to the Central Valley. What began with just two families grew under their faithful leadership into a thriving, multi-cultural, non-denominational congregation of more than 1,000 members, committed to restoring broken lives and serving the community. Together, they launched multiple ministries throughout California and established Visionaries Pursuing Excellence, Inc. (VPE), a network of twelve affiliated churches. Bishop Turner’s pastoral, theological, and organizational leadership, along with Lady Trena’s executive oversight, vision, and compassion, created a strong spiritual and structural foundation that continues to bless churches, leaders, and communities.

Throughout their decades of service, Bishop Turner and Lady Trena Turner have exemplified excellence in ministry, leadership, and community engagement. Bishop Turner is an accomplished musician and the author of A Shepherd’s View, while Lady Trena, ordained as an Elder in 2007, is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of American Intercontinental University, a sought-after speaker, justice advocate, and author of Sleeping With The Bishop. After many years of faithful service, Bishop Rufus and Lady Trena Turner have prayerfully stepped down from their pastoral leadership roles at Victory In Praise Church. The ministry now moves forward under the leadership of Pastor Trent Washington and Pastor Tanji Washington, who oversee Victory In Praise Church and continue to build upon the enduring legacy established by its founders.

LADY TANJI WASHINGTON

SENIOR PASTORS

Pastor Trent D. Washington, Sr. has faithfully served in ministry for more than 23 years and currently serves as Associate Pastor of Victory In Praise Church, a role he assumed on October 1, 2024. Born in Houston, Texas, and raised in the Baptist tradition, his call to ministry was prophetically affirmed in his youth. After relocating to Stockton, California, he graduated from A.A. Stagg High School and formally answered his call to ministry in 2002. In 2003, he began serving as Senior Pastor of Galatians Community Church. Pastor Washington’s spiritual development and pastoral leadership have been profoundly shaped through the mentorship of Bishop Rufus K. Turner, with the steadfast support of Lady Trena Turner. He is a graduate of SUM Bible College, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology in 2019.

Lady Tanji Washington serves faithfully alongside her husband as a devoted leader at Victory In Praise Church, with a deep commitment to women’s ministry, discipleship, prayer, and community outreach. Known for her compassion, authenticity, and servant leadership, she has a passion for seeing women and families healed, strengthened, and firmly rooted in God’s love. Together, Pastor Trent and Lady Tanji Washington bring practical leadership and stewardship to their pastoral calling as Property Managers and Childcare Owners, while also sharing a strong dedication to mentoring youth through faith and athletics. They have served as football and cheer coaches, mentors, and as President and Pastor of the Godspeed Track & Field Team, using sports as a platform to instill discipline, character, and spiritual growth. United in their commitment to faith, family, and community impact, they are the proud parents of five children—Tanji Trianna (in heaven), Trent Jr., Trenton, Tenyiah, and Tyrei—each serving in some capacity within God’s Kingdom.
